GTA Vice City - Top 5 most annoying missions

Right just for a change I thought it would do another list and this one will cover my choice of the top 5 most annoying missions from Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.

So with that in mind let's give these missions that left you (or me) with a bit less hair than when we started playing them....

5. Death Row

OK so to start off the list we have "Death Row" which is quite a frustrating one simply because you are on the clock when you do it.

And the gist of the mission is Tommy Vercetti, the main character in the game, has to race to save his business partner and friend, Lance Vance from being tortured and killed by Ricardo Diaz, who was responsible for the death of Lance's brother.  So Tommy has to speed his way to a junkyard where Lance is being held and take out Diaz's men in the process in order to rescue Lance.

This mission certainly is a bit of a pain as at this point in the game, Tommy doesn't really much in the way of heavy firepower and you have to rely on either the smaller SMGs or a manual rifle, which doesn't so well.  So this makes things a bit difficult especially as Tommy is rooted to the spot if he is to use his SMG and auto-aim and or go haywhere trying to manually aim the rifle where by the time Diaz's men will have gunned you down.

Its also a pain in the ass to try and rescue Lance without accidentally killing him either as I often found in the past when I reached the junkyard and got to Lance you have to shoot the guys in there with him and you could accidentally shoot Lance in the crossfire, which makes it even more annoying.

So Death Row deserves its place on the list here.

4. The Driver

At so next is "The Driver" which alot of people would put at the top of their list for Vice city however I think there are still more frustrating missions than this one.  Regardless of that though, The Driver, is a pain in the ass all the same and it deserves a place on here.

The mission itself is pretty simple in its premise, Tommy wants to recruit a fast driver for the bank robbery he intends to do and one of Tommy's crew and top marskman, Phil Cassidy, suggests Hilary, who is a neurotic, insecure wreck of a man, who says he will do the job but only if Tommy beats him in a race.

So what ensues is a pretty annoying race on the streets but given that it is an unsanctioned street race, you get a wanted level of two stars, so its not long before the cops are all over you and you need to try and evade them and beat Hilary at the same time.

So it has to be said its not too easy a mission to beat even though there are still worst missions in the game than this one.  But I can understand why so many people don't like it and why it even made the top 10 frustrating GTA mission on Watchmojo, so here it sits at No.4.

3. Keep your friends close.....

Right so at No.3 is the last story mission of the game where Tommy finally takes on his mob boss, Sonny Foreli whom Tommy had been ducking as he is intent on making his own criminal empire but Tommy soon finds that (SPOILER!!!) Lance has betrayed him to Sonny, as Lance had become fed up with Tommy's dominance.

And that is pretty much the premise of the mission itself, Sonny turns up to take his cut of Tommy's business and Tommy tries to fob him off with counterfeit money but Lance betrays him by telling Sonny where the real money is kept so Sonny and Lance then engage in a gunfight with Tommy.

This mission is definitely a bit of a pain as at the start it can be very easy to get shot up to bits by Sonny's men as Tommy has to continually rely on trying to get downstairs to the stash of health and body armour in his home.  And as Tommy tries to take down Lance you quickly run out of health as Sonny's men often beseige you or Lance takes a hit on your health aswell.  And this is especially annoying when you run up to the roof and try and hide under some barrels to take cover from Sonny's men and Lance's gunfire as that's generally where you will die the most.  Not to mention if you don't watch out for Sonny when you confront him at the very end then you will also die pretty quickly as he shoots you down with an assault rifle.

So "Keep Your Friends Close...." is definitely worthy of a place on the list.

2. Cop Land

So at No.2 is "Cop Land" which is another annoying beggar of a mission where Tommy and Lance have to to destroy a coffee shop in a mall and disguise themselves as cops in order to get into the mall to do it.

And the mission itself starts with Tommy and Lance having to lure two cops into a garage and steal their clothes and their car so they can drive to the mall, which is surrounded by cops.  So once Tommy sets off the charges to blow up the coffee shop, Tommy and Lance immediately get a 5 star wanted rating on their behinds and you need to try and get them back to the mansion by car or by some other method of transport.

Its safe to say the single most difficult and annoying thing about this mission is indeed getting rid of the 5 star wanted rating and its particularly tough to do when you try and escape by car as you need to try and locate a paint and spray place to do so.  I had however read an alterantive way to do the mission is to fly to the mall using a helicopter and use that to escape but I have never tried this myself although it might work easier.

Anyway so that's why this lovely mission sits at No.2 on this list, oh and I'm guessing that the title of the mission is a nod to Ray Liotta in the film of the same name? ;-)

So the No.1 most annoying mission from GTA Vice City is......

Drum roll......

1. G-Spotlight

Yep at No.1 is "G-Spotlight" which is one of the film studio asset missions and by heck its a real pain in the ass.

The premise of the mission itself involves Tommy trying to pull off a big publicity stunt for his film studio, who are making porno flicks.  So Tommy has to use a bike to go up different rooftops throughout the city in order to reach his final destination, which is a rooftop with a big searchlight on it and Tommy has to angle the light so it shows up a rather naughty billboard picture for the film!

However the main difficulty with this mission is that Tommy has a time limit on it so he has to get to the searchlight roof by 7:00am in the morning or else it will be too late and the poster will not be visible.  And it is very easy for Tommy to basically keep crashing into obstacles in his way enroute to the roof he needs to get to or basically he just runs out of time before he can get there.

So this alone makes this mission a pretty frustrating and difficult one to complete particularly giving that any time limit mission in GTA is bound to be an annoying one and in the case of Vice City, "G-Spotlight" is the most annoying mission of them all!

OK, so that's it for this post and I will be back on with another sometime soon as I am nearing the 400th post on this blog I will need to think up something for it, which most likely will be in October now and not this month.

So anyway until the next un its bye for now!
